Between the news that Espgaluda II would be on the iPhone sometime in Spring, and the very faintest whiff of something like the iCade cab existing, I think I walked around with an erection most of yesterday.
I’m really surprised that the iPhone and the Touch became so geared towards gaming. The iPad, presumably, will at least be as capable as the iPod Touch — though apparently not marketed in the same way — which is kind of exciting. And it presents a real opportunity for some crazy peripherals (technical limitations notwithstanding) where it didn’t really make sense for a device as small as the iPhone. I suspect — hope — this cabinet, or something like it, will exist within a year.
Pretty excited about the possibility of playing shmups (especially Espgaluda II) on a 9.7 inch screen with an actual arcade stick. How about a licensed MAME emulator for the iPad now?
