Gejius - “Makkuro Kurosuke”

When Gejius (pronounced “jee-jus”) showed up in Tuneage’s inbox, I was instantly hooked. Gejius had me at “Hello” because the Portland, Oregon-based artist plays the kind of electronic music I can’t get enough of: solid hooks, interesting samples, and beats that never seem to feel stale or repetitive. In this respect, “Makkuro Kurosuke” might be the perfect song to showcase what Gejius does best.

Gejius’s 2006 debut album, Black Eyes (available on Neuva Forma), is the eclectic, never-boring, headphone-demanding, electronic music that I look everywhere for. But luckily, this time, the music came looking for me.

This is pretty good.
