Ok, one more thing.
I’m amazed at how arrogant geeks are sometimes. Here’s what happened yesterday: Apple launched a device that is a first of its kind (don’t try and tell me it isn’t, it is), and the collective response was: doesn’t do anything I need, this thing is going to be a total failure. Ok, the collective response was a deluge of terrible jokes about tampons, but after that.
You know what you should do if this thing doesn’t meet your needs? Go fuck yourself. This thing wasn’t made for you. You are part of a fringe community that makes up a relatively tiny portion of Apple’s user base. Apple could give a fuck if you, personally, find this thing useful. All these fancy features it’s missing that are absolutely necessary? You dreamed them up, and you decided the iPad needed them. That it’s missing them does not make it the most pointless device ever, it makes it a device Apple didn’t build specifically for a bunch of geeks with blogs.
I by no means sat here emptying my load over this thing. It doesn’t do every single thing I’d like it to, but neither do any of the other Apple products I own, or for that matter almost any products I own. There are numerous sensible complaints that could be made about this thing, most of them fixable with a simple software update (and I’d say you’re an idiot if you don’t think this thing will have multitasking eventually). That it lacks a dick-mounting keyboard attachment, 800 output ports, and support for the worst fucking multimedia platform in existence, is not a valid complaint (or even a surprise).
And yeah, Steve promised magic and revolution, but what the fuck did you expect? “Hey guys, made something, it’s ok I guess.” Quite the sales pitch, Mr. Jobs! I’ll go straight out and buy one! Maybe he was selling it that hard because he knew assholes like you would instantly denounce it.
You had the exact same complaints about the iPod, of which Apple has sold 250 million. You had the exact same complaints about the iPhone, of which Apple has sold 40 million. And now you’re doing it again with the iPad.
Will you ever learn?
